Brining a self basting turkey?
Posted by tommyhorne1989 under Uncategorized | Tags: turkey brining |This year I wanted to try a brine solution, but I just found out your not suppose to brine a self basting turkey, and I bought the cheap Safeway self basting turkey, cause it was cheap.
So I was wondering if anyone knew a recipe to soak a self basting turkey for like 24 hours?
uhh, cheap? Cheap would probally get you a great one, just soak it in a recipe formula and your okay.

I’ve just been researching that question. Everything I’ve read so far says if you brine a self-basting turkey it will get too salty. The salt will draw moisture out of the meat and it will be dryer.
They say a self-basting turkey already has liquid and flavor enhancers injected into it. It’s supposed to say on the label what is in the liquid that’s injected into the turkey. Be sure to check these ingredients if you have food allergies.
